Oriental candle holder

Oriental candle holders are made of brass and bronze and are used mainly for ceremonies and rituals. These are designed to suit the religion for which they will be used and have symbols of that faith depicted on the carvings and the work on the oriental candle holders. The more common religions in the orient are Buddhism and Hinduism, but there are also many churches and mosques which use candles and these candle holders are more simple and straight and do not have any figures on it as per the custom of these religions.

In the Far East like Japan, candles are used for tea ceremonies and the candle holders are small and dainty so that they can be placed on the tea table. Oriental candle holders are made in various shapes and designs according to what they are going to be used for. Though, in the early days all religious and ritualistic equipment was made of metals, now ceramic is used for candle holders, incense burners and flower pots. Candle holders made of the famous green pottery in Korea has a variety of intricate designs. There are candle holders which are used for spreading the fragrance of aromatic oils in rooms where meditation and prayers are held. Oil is poured into water which is put into the top layer of the container and a candle is lit in the bottom part, so the water gets heated and the fragrance spreads with the warmth. This kind of a holder is also used in spas and health resorts.
